OUR FOUNDER C.X. TRANCHEMONTAGNE
Charles-Xavier Tranchemontagne opens his import business of woolen material and cloths in Old Montreal. The business then took the name of C.X. Tranchemontagne & Cie Ltée. It was the first francophone business to import fabrics into North America.
The success of this business was made possible due to the remarkable professionalism and ambition of Mr. Tranchemontagne and his personnel.
THE LIEBERMAN TEXTILES
During the 1940s, shortly after World War II, the Lieberman family founded Les Toiles Lieberman, a business specialized in the importation, distribution, and manufacturing of products designed for hotels and restaurants.
Respected and praised within the hospitality industry, the name Lieberman becomes synonymous with quality and longevity.
THE MERGER THAT BROUGHT US TO LIFE
It was back in 1979 when Mr. André L'Africain became President of Les Toiles Lieberman. Only two years later in 1981, he proudly took over the almost century-old company, C. X. Tranchemontagne, as the two family-owned and operated businesses joined forces and merged to become Lieberman Tranchemontagne.
A FAMILY BUSINESS
Fast forward to 2019, when André’s son, Marc-André L’Africain, takes over management of the company, ensuring it stays within the family. This handover is done with the support and commitment of several long-time loyal employees, some of whom have been with the company for over 30 years!
